Cars that run on right answers
Two contestants pulled from the studio crowd each get strapped in beside a celebrity co-driver whose face is hidden behind a racing helmet — nobody knows who's riding shotgun until they win their way to a reveal.
The bumper cars sit dead on the track. They don't run on gas — they run on right answers. Miss a question and your engine overheats, steam pours from the hood, and you stall while the other team pulls away.
Over four fast heats they trade seats, chase cash, slam into bonus signposts, and gamble winnings on daring "pushes" down the track — while host Natalie Decker calls the race like it's Daytona.
The smartest driver wins — not the fastest
- The mystery celebrity is the marketing engine. "Who's riding shotgun tonight?" is a promo line and a reason to tune in — every week.
- Two teams is right for a half-hour. Head-to-head is easy to follow and every round is a direct duel.
- Play-along-at-home. Trivia = the living room screams at the TV; bumper cars + a real NASCAR host = it looks like nothing else.
- Built-in sponsors. The cars are sponsored; signposts carry cash and logos.
- Clip-able by design. A steam-billowing stall, a horn honk, a helmet coming off — each is a 15-second vertical.
Natalie Decker
Our host is the real thing — a NASCAR driver who has competed in the Xfinity Series and the ARCA Menards Series, and finished 5th at Daytona, becoming the highest-ranking female driver in the history of the Camping World Truck Series.
She signals the drivers on, picks the contestants, calls the race trackside, reads the trivia, and milks every reveal. Authenticity you can't fake.
An arena that banks and bends
The track sits center stage, surrounded by the studio audience — coliseum-style, everyone looking down onto the action.
The outer edge banks upward like a roller-derby rink so cars can ride high on the turns, and the whole surface reconfigures into a figure-8 for the final "Crazy 8" heat.
Trackside: Natalie's position, a two-lane leaderboard, a lit FINISH LINE, and cash signposts planted around the loop like a video-game course. Green wash on "go," red-and-steam on an overheat, a spotlight snap on every reveal.
How a right answer moves a car
- Correct answer → cash to the team bank + the car creeps forward.
- Wrong answer → the hood billows steam, the car stalls 5 seconds, and the question flips to the other team.
- Honk to answer. First team to honk their horn gets first crack — contestant or celebrity, it's a team effort.
- Signposts = swerve to slam a cash sign for bonus money, but the detour can cost you track position.
- The Quarter-Track Push — the signature gamble: spend half your bank to blast a quarter-lap forward, solo. Keep your cash, or bet it on distance.
"Start Your Engines"
Natalie fires up the crowd: "Car racing and pop-culture fans… START YOUR ENGINES!"
Two masked celebrities roll their sponsored cars onto the track, identities hidden. Natalie pulls two contestants from the audience, and a coin toss decides who pairs with which mystery driver for Heat 1. Engines idling. Flag up.
The Green Flag
The flag drops. The two cars battle for the lead, bumping through the turns — then a sudden stop: trivia time.
The team in the lead picks the category. Honk to answer. Right answers earn cash and motion; wrong answers steam-stall and pass the question across. Signposts and the Quarter-Track Push are live.
First car across the heat line wins Round 1 and a checkered flag.
The Swap
Seats trade. The audience contestants take the wheel; the celebrities become co-pilots answering from the passenger seat.
New driver, same stakes — and a lot more comedy as amateurs try to steer a bumper car through a banked turn. Same trivia-to-advance rules. Winner takes flag #2.
Redemption
The questions that got missed in earlier heats come back around. Teams that were paying attention can cash in on a second chance.
Contestants choose: keep driving, or hand the wheel back to their celebrity for the stretch. It rewards the sharp and punishes the checked-out. Winner takes flag #3.
Crazy 8
The track reconfigures into a figure-8. Collisions are now almost guaranteed — the cars cross paths in the middle, position swings wildly, and cash values double.
This is the decider: highest drama, biggest bank swings, everything on the line. Last car across the final line loses.
The Reveal & the Victory Lap
The winning team crosses the line — and the helmets come off. "Let's find out who's been riding shotgun all night…" The mystery celebrities are unmasked at last.
The winning duo takes a trophy and a slow victory lap as the credits roll. The contestant keeps half their winnings; the other half goes to the celebrity's charity of choice. (Win back-to-back heats and you collect an extra prize.)
